About Me

Hello! I am a native of Nashville, Tennessee with African American and Barbadian roots. My research interests include comparative race politics, social movements, democratic consolidation, minority rights and public policy with a regional focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. My current research projects include analyzing the 2021 “Virtual Afro-Peruvian Youth Survey” and working on a monograph based on my dissertation, “Black Social Movements in Peru and Ecuador from 1980-2016: Social Movements and Government Response”. I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the College of Charleston with affiliations in the African American Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies Programs. I also edit The Christian Recorder, the official denominational newspaper for the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
